Lottery jackpots have the capacity to change people’s lives but even they come with an expiry date. Loto-Quebec is seeking for the individuals having the legal right to become Canada’s next millionaires but still hesitating to do so. There are five CA$1-million prizes that are yet to meet their winners and the lottery corporation is actively seeking them before the 52-week period claim period is over.
There are many reasons why a lottery winner could hesitate to bag their prize, ranging from simple misplacement of the winning ticket, to fear of the irreversible changes this windfall would bring to their life. Some people take their time to bag the prize because they want to learn more about managing their finances and be prepared to invest it in the most appropriate way once they receive the jackpot from the lottery corporation.
Unclaimed Prizes Expire Soon
Loto-Quebec has issued an official announcement that there are five CA$1-million prizes in addition to several smaller ones that should be bagged as soon as possible. Starting with the biggest ones, June 1, 2019 brought a CA$1-million guaranteed prize to a Lotto 6/49 ticket sold in La Haute Yamaska. The individual has less than a year to claim their prize.
July 5 brought another CA$1-million prize that could be claimed by a Quebec Max ticket sold in Gatineau ahead of the draw. Once again, the winner of this draw has some 12 months to bad their prize. There are currently three individuals in the province that face the possibility of missing their deadlines for bagging their CA$1-million prizes, as they were drawn last fall.
September 12 is about to bring the deadline for a player hailing from Brome-Missisquoi who purchased a winning Lotto 6/49 ticket last September. Only days after that, on September 30 a Lotto MAX CA$1-million prize would no longer be up for grabs. Its winner hails from the greater Longueuil area. Finally, October 28 is the deadline for the last unclaimed Lotto MAX CA$1-million prize, this time linked to a ticket sold in Terrebonne.
Five CA$1M Prizes Remain
Loto-Quebec also points out that there are several smaller prizes that are yet to be claimed by the end of this year. All three of them are shares of a bigger prize that has already been claimed. October 28 comes with the deadline for a CA$333,333.40 slice of a Lotto MAX payout.
The Maxmillions prize was part of a bigger one and there is still a player living in Levis that has not received their share. December 2 is set to bring not one, but two deadlines for prize claim. The Lotto MAX one amounts to some CA$500,000 and it is a Maxmillions share. The other half has already been bagged, but this one still has some time to make it to Quebec City.
The second prize that expires at the beginning of December is a Lotto 6/49 one. It is a CA$250,000 share of a Guaranteed prize the remainder of which has been claimed by a group of individuals from the municipality of Joliette.
